I. Introduction

 

" AI Meets Traditional Culture" Youth Art Exchange Exhibition—Call for Entries for the China-Indonesia Youth AI Traditional Culture Visual Works Creation Exchange is now officially launched. This event is open to young student creators from China and Indonesia, calling for a wide range of AI visual works that integrate traditional cultural elements from both countries, including AI graphic design, motion graphics, animation, and other forms. The submission deadline is April 16, 2026.


This initiative aims to deepen cultural mutual learning between the youth of China and Indonesia, empowering young creators to use AI technology to innovate upon traditional culture and explore new paths for the integration of technology and humanities. The event will select 50 shortlisted works and confer a total of 10 awards, with a total prize value of 11,000 USD in MovieFlow Credit. The Special Award winner will receive the qualification for an exclusive one-week offline workshop at Shanghai Vancouver Film School (including accommodation and meals). All shortlisted works will have the opportunity to be exhibited in dual offline exhibitions in Jakarta, Indonesia and Shanghai, China.


We look forward to receiving works full of creativity, technical proficiency, and cultural depth, jointly presenting the new visage of traditional culture in the age of artificial intelligence.

III. Submission Guidelines

 

1.Eligibility

 

Young creators aged between 16 and 40 of Chinese or Indonesian nationality, or those currently residing/studying in these countries (including current students and young artists). Both individuals and teams are welcome to apply.


2.Theme & Requirements


Theme
The work must be closely centered on the traditional cultural elements of China and Indonesia. Creators are encouraged to delve into the cultural symbols of both countries in areas such as philosophy, literature and arts, folk customs, architecture, attire, myths, and legends, and to integrate, transform, and express them innovatively through AI technology.


Creative Core
The work should focus on visual artistic creation, emphasizing the application of AI technology in visual generation, style transfer, and conceptualization. It must respect cultural authenticity, avoid cultural misinterpretation and bias, and aim to convey the concepts of cultural dialogue, symbiosis, and innovation.

Open to all types, with a special welcome for various AI visual creations,including but not limited to:


AI Graphic Design ( e.g., posters, illustrations, UI design)
AI Motion Graphics / Animation
AI-generated Narrative Short Film
AI-generated Documentary Short Film
Other experimental visual art forms integrating AI technology


3.Technical Specifications

◎ Image works
Format: JPG, PNG, PSD.
Resolution: ≥300 DPI.
File Size: Maximum 200 MB per work.
Requirements: High-quality imagery, comprehensive project details.
 
◎ Dynamic Visual Works
Duration: 30 seconds to 10 minutes.
Format: MP4, MOV, etc. 
Resolution: 1920x1080 (Full HD) or higher.
Aspect Ratio: Both horizontal and vertical screens are acceptable.
Requirements: Synchronized audio and video, smooth playback,etc.

All submitted works will be judged by a panel of international experts from the fields of AI art, visual creation, and traditional culture studies.

All award winners and shortlisted entrants will receive an official certificate of honor issued by the organizer.

All shortlisted works will have the opportunity to be exhibited in offline thematic exhibitions held in Jakarta, Indonesia and Shanghai, China.
 

 

✔ Advancement Opportunity

 

All award-winning works will be showcased on mainstream media platforms and may be recommended for entry into international film festivals and other art competitions.

VII. Rights & Obligations
 

 

1.The entrant must be the original creator and hold full copyright of the work, ensuring it does not infringe upon any third-party rights. Violations will result in disqualification and liability.


2.Submission implies the entrant grants the organizers a permanent, royalty-free, global license to use the work for non-commercial purposes related to this event, including judging, exhibition, promotion, and publication.


3.The Special Award workshop cannot be exchanged for cash. The specific schedule is subject to coordination with the school.


4.The use of MovieFlow Credit is subject to the relevant terms of the MovieFlow platform.


5.The organizer reserves the final right of interpretation and the right to adjust event arrangements if necessary.
